Kristian McKay

Filmmaker Kristian McKay has been writing stories and making films since the age of 13. His films are inspired by the literature movements of American Realism, Naturalism, the Greek Tragedies, and his own imagination. The narrative of his films are based on the human condition shown through circumstance, language, and different cultures. "I'm fascinated by the choices we have and make in our lives of love and destiny."

He has worked on various feature films, music videos, and commercial spots since 1993. His love and passion for filmmaking came from an influence of the 60's New Wave, Auteur Cinema, early 80’s cable television and starring in his older brother’s Super 8 films...

At 32, Kristian decided to move from Austin, TX to Portland, OR to produce his own narrative scripts. After creating Truewonder Films, he wrote and directed the award-winning 16mm Short Film (24-min) entitled “Orbita Del Verano” (Summer Orbit). The film won "Best Short Film" at the Seattle Local Sightings Film Festival in 2008 and has went on to show at several film festivals around the globe.

In February of 2009 Kristian completed principal photography for "Down the Road", his first full-length Feature Film that is due for release in the fall. Kristian now resides in Seattle, Washington full time.
